Early Morning Workout

I was proud of myself that I again got up at 6 am to hit the gym even on a very wet, gray and soggy morning. Later the rain burned off and it became warm and humid as I had to go out and about on campus. A long day which included some disappointing news and a late evening meeting.

A Little Bit Better

I was a little bit better today, but still had that "run over by a bus" feeling. My "pic of the day" is of this evening. It's kind of funny to feel the cooler temperatures and see the rain fall with the pool in the background (view from our balcony).

An Exercise in Patience

A roller coaster kind of day filled with anticipation, ups& downs, unintended outcomes and an unexpected visit. It was a very strange day to say the least, with starts and stops that truly tested my patience. This evening was spent researching info and then I wasn't able to unwind by going for a walk or to the pool because of a thunderstorm, funny thing is that's how I started my morning. While I was in the shower this morning, the lights flickered on and off from a thunderstorm, I guess a precursor to how the day would go. I'm thankful this day is passing and am hoping for calmer days ahead.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

We've had thunderstorms and heavy down pours most of the time for the past two days. We just heard from the weather forecast that tomorrow could be the wettest day yet. It has been the kind of day/week that only a fish could love.

Summer Storms

My "pic of the day" is inspired by all the green vegetation that has sprouted up from the rain, hot temps and humidity which has created a nice "greenhouse effect." Late this afternoon we had a summer storm that rolled through our area and cooled us down to the upper 70s.

Sunny & Rainy

My "pic of the day" is of a budding plant I saw on campus this afternoon as I was walking back from teaching class. Yes, I do carry a camera with me for moments such as this. We had beautiful weather for most of today -- sunny and in the low 70s! I actually took my 2 p.m. class outside today because it was so nice, but it was actually a bit too hot in the sun. I can't believe I'm complaining about it being too hot, when just two weeks ago it was absolutely frigid! Then, by 5 p.m. it completely clouded over and a thunderstorm hit and it rained a bunch. Thunder is still rumbling and lightening is flashing as I type this. The temps are supposed to drop by 20 degrees in the next 48 hrs - welcome to springtime in Missouri!
I worked about 10 hrs today and then got out of work at 6 p.m. to go to the gym and then had to go back to work for a student org mtg. at 8:30 tonight.

Cabin fever

It's cold (about 35F) and the rain is pouring down...it's one of those days that makes one want to move to a warmer climate! When considering the unseasonably cold and wet fall we had, we've been without a truly nice day (or week) since early October. I'm ready for spring and I have cabin fever. I'm ready to enjoy fresh, warm air and outside activities again (walking, tennis, going to the park ect.). My "pic of the day" is of the raindrops that seem to permanently reside now on our balcony railing (at least since Friday).

For now, I'm just going to curl up with my hot chocolate and support my local church's youth mission fundraiser by buying some vegetarian chili at McAlister's Deli tonight after 5 as 15% of proceeds will go toward the fundraiser. I also love McAlister's Deli's lemonade, but I'm going to save that for a warmer day.
